We could think of no better way to celebrate New York’s Social Media Week than to have our Socialfly founders, Stephanie Abrams Cartin and Courtney Spritzer, answer all your questions on how to reach a female audience using social media!
The event was held at the Of Mercer clothing store, a beautiful shop dedicated to workwear for professional women. Panel attendees were greeted at the door by members of the Socialfly team, scrumptious treats from Treat House, sinfully delicious pretzels from Fatty Sundays, and intoxicatingly posh Manhattan Moonshine cocktails.
Moderated by NY1 news anchor Jessica Abo and featuring TheBach.com founder Joanne Barken, these lady bosses dove into what tactics are necessary to attract female consumers to your social media pages.
One of the key focuses of the panel was the importance of having a conversation on social media. The best way to gain an audience is to engage. Barken touched upon this when revealing her Instagram success. Followers are seeking relevance, validation, and responses from the people and brands they follow. The best way to improve traffic is to comment, like, and respond.
Cartin and Spritzer divulged some of the secrets from their book, Like, Love, Follow, and shared the best practices for launching a social media campaign. It is crucial, they said, to have beautiful content images containing less than 20% text, particularly for Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. These are visual platforms and audiences need to like what they see.
“Ask yourself,” Abrams said, “Before posting any piece of content, whether or not you would like that image if it came up on your feed. If the answer is yes, then you are all set. If the answer is no, then you have to go back to the drawing board.”
Panel attendees left feeling more knowledgeable and certainly full of yummy snacks!
