#ForYou Summit: Culture Driver

Top CMOs attended and spoke at the summit, and also co-hosted breakout sessions to educate business leaders on community-driven content on TikTok. See some key takeaways below:

  • TikTok is collapsing the marketing funnel as we know it: 47% of the TikTok community say that they bought something they saw on TikTok and movements like #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt showcase how community trust and co-creation fuel commerce.
  • The TikTok community embraces brands: 61% of TikTokers like brands better when they participate in a trend on TikTok.
  • Creators are the secret ingredient to forging trust and credibility with the community: 66% of TikTokers enjoy when brands sponsor creators to show off their products.

New Features + Tools

  • TikTok Jump: TikTok Jump allows creators to add links to their videos leading to additional content built into the app, such as recipes, quizzes, flashcards, movie reviews and beauty tutorials. So far, TikTok’s version is different in that the experience isn’t centered on e-commerce.

  • TikTok Shoutouts: Shoutouts allow users to pay creators for a personalized video, with about a week between payment and final product. While TikTok has not officially announced the feature, creators and influencer marketing agencies have seen this Cameo-like feature pop up.

  • Spark Ads: Spark Ads allow advertisers to tap into pre-existing creator content and use it as part of campaigns, with the creator’s permission. The move is meant to help brands keep up with trending content, and even supplement larger campaigns.

TikTok Trends

Learning on TikTok

The latest TikTok trend includes learning something new or sharing  knowledge on TikTok. This is a great way to learn about a topic you are interested in, or an area you know nothing about. The hashtag to follow this trend is #learnontiktok, which already has more than 132 billion views. Click here for a great example!

Optical Illusions

TikTokers are getting creative with optical illusions on the app. For example, a video of a horse walking has been circulating on the app. Supposedly, the direction in which you see the horse walking determines if you’re left or right brained. These optical illusions are fun to share with friends or family to see different responses! It will also be interesting to see if and how brands participate in these optical illusion trends.

Pitbull’s “Been There Done That” Trend

TikTok users have been taking Pitbull’s song lyrics, “Been There and Done That,” and applying them to their life in a humorous way. For example, this user said “When you’re struggling with figuring out an Excel spreadsheet but you remember Pitbull has been there and done that.” More than 65k videos have already been created, with top videos exceeding a million likes.
