Every year on our anniversary, we take time to reflect on our business journey. 10 years ago today – on May 4, 2012 – we said goodbye to corporate America and went all in on Socialfly. Little did we know, what was once a side hustle to our corporate jobs would later become the leading women-owned social media agency in the U.S.
When we started Socialfly, we were fueled by the desire to not only do what we love, but also to help business owners navigate the new world of social media. In our first year, we spoke to many brands that did not believe social media could make an impact for their business. At the time, social media marketing was new territory for brands and its potential had not yet been uncovered. We wanted to change that.
Over the past 10 years, Socialfly has evolved with the times. Though we started as a traditional social media agency, focusing primarily on organic social, we quickly introduced influencer marketing, paid media and production as those needs became more evident over the years. Since then, we’ve partnered with some of the world’s most notable brands, including Conair, Girl Scouts and Warner Bros. Discovery, and have won several Shorty Awards and Vega Digital Awards for our work.
Most importantly, though, we’ve fostered a workplace environment that we’re extremely proud of. We’ve brought together the most talented people in social media to stay ahead of the curve, and have been recognized for our growth and our leadership. And even though we’ve become a remote-first agency, we still look forward to “showing up” and “going” to work – regardless of what that might look like for each employee.
As we look to the future, we know that anything is possible. The last 10 years have been filled with so many unforeseeable moments, and while it may be hard to predict what is to come, one thing is for certain: we’re on the brink of even more transformation within the social media industry, which will create greater opportunities for brands to authentically connect with their customers. Whatever it may be, our team is ready to embrace it with open arms. Over the years, we’ve built a special foundation and skill set that allows us to be flexible and open-minded as the industry evolves.

We are truly grateful for the network and community that we have created over the years, and know that we’re stronger because of it. As a women-owned agency, we’re full steam ahead on our mission to set a new standard for how brands communicate and resonate with women on social media, and look forward to helping businesses of all kinds recognize the power of social media marketing for years to come.
