Have you ever had a hard time remembering events when they don’t directly effect you and your life, even if they are momentous and important? I myself feel like I sometimes have trouble remembering who graduated, who got a job offer, or even what used to be buzzing or popular in daily news. The announcement of one of Facebook’s new platforms is intended to act as an aid to your memory, particularly when it comes to big events that have occurred in the lives of your friends, family, and followers.
The feature, “On This Day”, allows the user access to old memories, photos, posts, and life events! “On This Day”, is still in testing mode, but can be accessed by users who have the new News Feed Design by selecting it from the menu options on the right side of the page. Once the featured is launched for all users, Facebook will use your friend’s news as a header and cover photo to be followed by news that occurred exactly one year ago!
The image below depicts the menu options on the right side, and the way in which your news will be depicted when looking into your personal “On This Day” page!
The greatest thing about this feature, in my opinion, is the option that the menu selections give to you to hide “On This Year”. You can decide on your own time whether the feature is worthwhile to you! What do you think about Facebook’s newest feature? Will you use it, or do you prefer to keep the past in the past? Let us know, we would love to hear your opinions!
