In March, we learned from re/code that Instagram was on the verge of rolling out new features to promote more advertising and brand activity on the app, including analytics tools, the added ability to purchase Instagram ads via the mobile app, and profiles made specifically for businesses. Today, Later.com posted the first look at the progress made on the new brand profiles so far. Read more here.
The differences between regular profiles and brand profiles can be seen below:
New features include a “Contact” button, category listing under the brand title, and location listing. The “Contact” button prompts a pop up with the option to get directions or email the business.
Overall, adding these new elements to Instagram will make it easier to interact with businesses on the platform thanks to the clear calls to action and convenient links to pertinent information. Currently, these features are being tested out with a small group of business profiles. Full integration into the app will roll out within the next few months.
